Explore ancient Poseidonia and Paestum with an archaeologist who will help you understand the history, architecture and development of one of the most important archaeological sites of Magna Graecia.
During the tour you will discover the major monuments of the ancient city, including the Temple of Neptune, the Temple of Athena and the Temple of Hera, traditionally known as the Basilica.
Your guide will explain how Poseidonia developed as a Greek colony, later came under Lucanian control and eventually became the Roman city of Paestum.
The Archaeological Museum is included
The experience also includes a visit to the National Archaeological Museum of Paestum, an important complement to the archaeological area.
The museum houses finds discovered at Paestum and in the surrounding territory, including the famous Tomb of the Diver, Lucanian painted tombs and sculpted metopes from the Sanctuary of Hera at the Sele River.
