Explore the temples of Paestum
Paestum was founded by Greek settlers around 600 BC under the name Poseidonia.
Its three monumental Doric temples are among the best-preserved Greek temples in the Mediterranean.
The itinerary through the archaeological park also allows you to see monuments from later periods, particularly the Roman Forum and Amphitheatre, which illustrate the transformation of Poseidonia into Roman Paestum.
Visit the Archaeological Museum
A visit to Paestum should also include the National Archaeological Museum, located beside the archaeological area.
Its collections contain finds from the ancient city and surrounding necropolises, including the famous Tomb of the Diver, painted Lucanian tombs and important sculptures and architectural decorations from the sanctuaries of Poseidonia.
The museum provides essential context for understanding the temples and other monuments seen during the archaeological visit.
