![Templi di Paestum](https://www.paestumsites.it/images/paestum_velia.jpg)

A single ticket gives you access to the **Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia** and the **National Archaeological Museum of Paestum**.

**Validity:** 3 consecutive days
**Included:** Paestum Archaeological Park, National Archaeological Museum of Paestum and Velia Archaeological Park
**Reduced admission:** €2 for eligible visitors aged 18 to 25
**Free admission:** under 18
**Advance booking:** not required

## What does the Paestum and Velia ticket include?

The standard Parks ticket includes one admission to:

- the **Paestum Archaeological Area**;
- the **National Archaeological Museum of Paestum**;
- the **Velia Archaeological Area**.

The ticket is valid for **three consecutive days**, so there is no need to visit Paestum and Velia on the same day.

At Paestum, you can explore the three monumental Greek temples, the Agora, Roman Forum, Amphitheatre and the remains of the ancient city.

The National Archaeological Museum preserves some of the most important discoveries from Poseidonia and its territory, including the famous **Tomb of the Diver**, the Lucanian painted tombs and the Archaic metopes from the Sanctuary of Hera at the Sele River.

## Should you book a guided tour of Paestum?

If this is your **first visit to Paestum**, a guided tour is worth considering.

The archaeological park is easy to explore independently, but many of the remains outside the three famous temples are not immediately easy to interpret without archaeological context.

A guide can explain the differences between the Temple of Hera, Temple of Athena and Temple of Neptune, reconstruct the ancient Greek city of Poseidonia and show how it later changed under Lucanian and Roman rule.

A particularly convenient option combines **priority admission with a 2-hour guided tour led by a certified archaeologist**.

The tour is available in **English and Italian**, with a maximum group size of 20 participants.

## Official ticket or guided tour: which should you choose?

Choose the **official Paestum and Velia ticket** if you:

- prefer to explore independently;
- want to visit both Paestum and Velia;
- want three days to organise your visits;
- are mainly interested in admission rather than a guided experience.

Consider the **guided tour with an archaeologist** if you:

- are visiting Paestum for the first time;
- want to understand the temples rather than simply see them;
- prefer explanations from an expert guide;
- want admission and a guided visit included in a single booking.

The guided tour is specifically focused on **Paestum** and should therefore not be confused with the standard three-day Paestum and Velia ticket.

## How much does the official ticket cost?

The standard admission price varies according to the season.

### From March to November

**Full price:** €15
**Reduced:** €2
**Under 18:** free

### From December to February

**Full price:** €10
**Reduced:** €2
**Under 18:** free

Reduced admission applies to visitors who meet the eligibility requirements established by the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Always check the current conditions before purchasing, as prices and admission arrangements may change.

## Visiting Paestum

Paestum deserves more than a quick walk around its three temples.

In addition to the **Temple of Hera, Temple of Neptune and Temple of Athena**, the archaeological area preserves the Greek Agora, Ekklesiasterion, Heroon, Roman Forum, Amphitheatre and extensive remains of houses and public buildings.

Allow at least **two hours for the archaeological area**, and additional time for the National Archaeological Museum.

If you choose a guided tour, you can use the explanations provided during the visit as an introduction and then continue exploring the site independently.

## Visiting Velia

The archaeological site of **Velia**, ancient Elea, lies further south along the Cilento coast.

The city is particularly famous for its association with the philosophers **Parmenides and Zeno** and for monuments including Porta Rosa and the remains of the ancient Greek settlement.

Since the Parks ticket is valid for three consecutive days, the easiest solution is generally to visit Paestum on one day and Velia on another.

## Where to buy tickets

The official Parks ticket can be purchased online or directly from the ticket offices at Paestum and Velia.

Advance booking is not compulsory for ordinary admission.

If you prefer an organised visit with an archaeologist, book the guided tour separately and carefully check what is included in the selected product before purchasing.
